The spring sunshine was most welcome for a great little first aid course with an emphasis on the outdoors. I was happy to meet a small but varied group of people keen to refresh their skills or learn new ones.
The course offered both Level 2 Awards in Emergency First Aid and Activity First Aid, taking advantage of the modular, progressive nature of First Aid Awards’ (my awarding body) accredited programme. In other words, come for one day, get Emergency First Aid at Work. Stay for both and you get an Activity First Aid qualification.
Outdoor education charity WinG provided a perfect venue combining a convenient Gateshead location, an indoor classroom and outdoor space, as well as proper coffee all day on a donation basis. Because WinG and Source and Summit shared the costs involved I was able to offer discounted prices for voluntary organisations- something I’m always keen to do.
And our happy graduates went away confident to deal with emergencies in their different areas of work or volunteering, be it in canoe coaching, surveying for oil or community partnership work. It was great to balance the different needs of the trainees throughout the course- I really enjoyed it. Could I train you too?
